this fall started perfectly, my mom came to visit me and we celebrated fall. we started off with homemade waffles and warm drinks. then we went to Garden Village to see the witch decorations. so we were excited for the little shops and just fun time together- what we did not know was that this was the first day of witchopalozza and there were people EVERYWHERE dressed up in witch costumes. this little shopping village has precious shops with homemade decor, treats, and furniture- but in October they have life size witches on every shop and human witch roaming around. they had hair coloring, face painting, and games for kids plus dancing and concerts at night for adults. everywhere you looked witches were playing baseball and in the pond and landing witches on brooms and playing pianos. so we found some beautful fall decorations and some high spirited witches. my favorite was hanging out with my mom but we brought home a new friend Thorman the turkey!
the next day we went to a cooking class at WS and learned how to make fresh pasta. we sort of made the whole day about cooking because then we went grocery shopping for our feast. we made a homemade chicken pot pie, mashed potatoes with green apple chunks, and two types of chocolate ice cream. it was fun having two people in the kitchen (mr is a great cook but of course i love cooking with my mom). everything turned out amazing and that chocolate ice cream was scrumptous- so much better than store bought. also we got a visit from mister's best friend from vegas and it was fun to catch up with him.
so the last day (don't worry i got her for 3 days which was amazing) we made abielskiers with homemade whipped cream and powdered sugar. we played many games of ticket to ride! watched some conference and enjoyed the last couple moments. i love my mom and it was so great to hang out with her. living in utah is hard because i moved here without knowing anyone except my husband and a few others, but i got to do the girly stuff that i have wanted to do with my best friend/my mom. thanks mom for taking on both roles and making my weekend incredible. next time she promised to bring the rest of the family- that means todmic, bear, toaster, and leeland- and i already cannot wait.
so it is the first of the month and i am going to update my goals for october.
1. we both got new shoes for work. we found me black shoes for $18 and then we found mister's shoes for $18 so we bought two- one for work and one for school! ACCOMPLISHED
2. we started our christmas shopping alright. it is in full swing! ACCOMPLISHED
3. a read two new books and my mom just gave me a new book to read- oh reading books with the wind blowing is so relaxing. ACCOMPLISHED
4. i made a pot roast for the first time and it was great- it needs some improvement but it was the first!ACCOMPLISHED
5. work out routine! well i have been working out and breathing the cool air and thinking about running. ACCOMPLISHED
